Description
- Leads and manages integration and verification of equipment and processes within the HVB department to ensure product quality for new or series products.
- Manages continuous improvement activities and projects to optimize equipment and automated processes in battery production.
- Leads process capability studies, statistical analysis, and data-driven decision-making to achieve operational excellence and meet production targets.
- Identifies, analyzes, and drives resolution of process and series production problems.
- Adjusts automation programs and parameters as necessary to ensure product and process quality.
- Leads automation of system installation, commissioning, and testing for battery production.
- Analyzes the scope of innovative designs by means of a systematic approach with the goal of being a repeatable, robust manufacturing process.
- Develops solutions to highly complex problems with equipment and processes, which require regular use of ingenuity and innovation.
- Adheres to and administers business policies, budgets, procedures, practices and / or review of major projects and assignments.
- Supports procurement, process engineering, and design engineering in the problem-solving process with external BMW suppliers.
- Understands complex robot systems, conveyor systems, vision systems, materials supply, and other equipment requirements.
- Conducts detailed analysis and evaluates existing manufacturing processes, identifies areas for improvement and recommends appropriate solutions.
- Designs and implements process optimization strategies to enhance efficiency, reduce cycle time and improve product quality.
- Collaborates with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Monitors and analyzes process performance metrics, such as cycle time, yield and scrap rate and develop strategies to meet or exceed targets.
- Identifies and implements process control measures, including statistical process control (SPC) techniques, to ensure consistent quality and reduce process variation.
- Provides technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve process-related issues and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Participates in cross-functional teams to drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventive measures.
- Provides training and guidance to production teams on new processes, procedures, and equipment to ensure successful implementation and operation.
- Researches and implements latest advancements in process engineering technologies, methodologies, and best practices.
- Assists maintenance team with troubleshooting, uptime optimization, and equipment continuous improvements.
- Promotes the principles and values of Plant Spartanburg in daily activities and for future plans.
- Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.

- BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering preferred) or STEM related field OR the equivalent of 4 years of planning or project management experience in the automotive industry.
MS Degree in STEM (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in product & process engineering development and continuous improvement (automotive preferred).
- 5+ years of experience with process improvement tools and methodologies, such as Kaizen, 5S and Value Stream Mapping.
- 5+ years of experience in process analysis, process modelling, statistical analysis, and simulation software.
- As applicable, per BMW training guidelines.
- 5+ years knowledge in at least one joining method - Gluing, Foaming, Riveting, Laser Welding, Paint, Conveyance, Process Monitoring, Electrical testing, Geometric measurements.
- 5+ years of strong knowledge of process optimization techniques, lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, statistical analysis, and root cause analyses.
- 5+ years of problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex process issues.
- 5+ years knowledge of process safety, risk assessment and compliance with regulatory standards.
- 5+ years of knowledge of FMEA, Control Plan, Root Cause Analysis, PDCA Process, and 8D tools.
- 5+ years of knowledge in robotics, pneumatics, and controls.
- 5+ years of written and verbal communication skills as proven through business application.
- 5+ years of Microsoft Office skills as proven through business. application.
