We're looking for our Head of Technology who will help us partner with universities and national labs to take disruptive deep tech companies to market across the country.
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and commercializing transformative deep-tech innovations and scaling disruptive startups.
The best person for this role is excited about productizing deep-tech research insights and proving product-market fit on an extensive range of technologies.
If you have experience managing sourcing and deal flow for deep tech startups, building R&D teams, or taking deep tech hardware to market, this is an ideal role for you.
As the Head of Technology at Roadrunner Venture Studios, you will help us shape the investment priorities and pipeline of ideas that Roadrunner is considering for the studio.
You will be focused on due diligence and will work side by side with early-stage scientists and entrepreneurs to identify what we are going to invest in.
Together with our core studio team, you will work at the forefront of innovation, leading our technical efforts with entrepreneurs and collaborating with brilliant Entrepreneurs-in-Residence to build the next generation of game-changing startups.
This role will require extensive presence in studio locations, including NM and NJ.
Your core role as Head of Technology will include :
- Leading the technical vision and strategy for our portfolio companies, aligning technology initiatives with business objectives and market opportunities.
- Fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning.
- Driving innovation and experimentation, exploring emerging technologies and industry trends to identify new growth opportunities, and delivering House Views that help the studio prioritize time and team allocation.
- Managing technical resources and budgets effectively, optimizing resource allocation and prioritization to maximize impact.
- Acting as a technical advisor and thought leader, providing guidance and support to portfolio company founders and stakeholders.
- Staying on top of market developments and competitive landscapes, providing insights and recommendations to inform strategic decision-making.
- Partnering with leading research institutions and universities to source, vet, and invest in cutting-edge deep technology ideas and entrepeneursFormulating in-house perspectives based on extensive research and industry knowledge to guide investment decision-making.
- Working closely with Head of Studio, Head of Talent, and Head of Business Development to make investment decisions and build companies within the studio.

- You enjoy working on taking Intellectual Property and patents from 0-1 in their product roadmapping and customer discovery.
- You have evaluated a diverse set of deep tech ideas for possible investment either through non-dilutive grants or private equity / venture capital.
- You have helped drive strategic partnerships with leading universities and national research labs.
- You are passionate about productizing cutting-edge research insights and rapidly achieving product-market fit.
- You have creative vision to reshape and disrupt established industries.
- Experience in leading startups from inception to scale, and operating across diverse industries is a bonus.
