The Role :
As a Billing Lead, you play a key role in encouraging productivity and quality and ensures end of month goals are met within the billing department.
Additional responsibilities include :
- Works directly with the insurance companies, healthcare providers and patients to get a claim processed and paid
- Reviews and appeals unpaid and denied claims
- Processes patient and insurance refund requests in a timely manner
- Posts payments and / or denials from insurance remits
- Assists patients in getting the correct information to apply for charity / Medicaid or a payment plan
- Uses coded data to produce and submit claims to insurance companies
- Assists in periodic checks of unprocessed and pending claim folders
- Assists in training of new employees
- Promotes productivity and quality of work within the billing and coding department
- Assists in ensuring end of month goals are met
- Assists other billers in the department with their job functions
- Complies with all elements within HIPAA and the Privacy Act
- Maintains good work habits including attendance and punctuality
- Maintains knowledge of current billing rules and trends for billing types assigned by attending seminars, workshops and watching webinars
- Represents Ideal Option professionally and with a positive attitude
- Manages eCW and multiple payer portals
- Assists in verification of patient benefits and scheduling
- Other projects and duties as assigned
Has effective communication skills verbal and written, the ability to problem solve, and has excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Minimum Requirements to be considered :
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of two years of experience with medical billing
- Knowledge of chemical dependency and its effects on individuals, families, and communities
- Ability to work independently
- A minimum of 1-year eClinicalWorks experience
- CPB Certification through AAPC preferred
