Blueshift's bleeding edge thermal protection systems are used by some of the biggest OEM brands in the eVTOL, rocket, spacecraft and other aerospace, defense industries with challenging temperature or RF requirements.
These products are based on AeroZero®, a thin, polyimide aerogel film that is used as the primary insulator in AeroZero Flame and Thermal Barriers (AZ-FTB) and AeroZero Thermal Protection Systems (AZ-TPS).
The Process Engineer is a key member of a team responsible for continuous improvement, process design, and implementation for Blueshift production.
This position focuses on improving the continuous production process for innovative AeroZero products based on polyimide aerogel.
What will you do in this role?
- Follow and enforce all safety procedures and rules.
- Perform training on new safety procedures as necessary.
- Proactively raise safety concerns, offering suggestions for improvement.
- Provide engineering support to increase the quality and capacity of the manufacturing process.
- Support process and equipment validation projects.
- Manage equipment and line improvement projects from design through commissioning.
- Improve processes using systematic methods (Six Sigma, Lean, etc.).
- Document technical learnings in clear, concise reports.
- Present findings to the Blueshift Team when appropriate.
- Champion root cause analysis to increase safety and quality.
- Contribute to patents and / or internal trade secrets.
What does it take to be successful in this role?
- degree in Chemical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline.
- Must have 10+ years of hands-on experience with plant machinery. Prefer candidates with experience in film extrusion, film casting, or polymer coating applications.
- Experience in the safe handling of chemicals and organic flammable solvents.
- Proven ability to lead projects completed on time and at / under budget.
- Problem solver able to handle multiple and changing priorities.
- Effective in oral and written English.
- Able to lift, push and pull 50 lbs.
- Proficient using software for data collection and reporting.
- Able to wear a respirator, as needed.
