Requirements :

  • Industry Expertise : Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy civil excavation estimating.
  • Educational Background : Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency in construction estimating software and cost management systems.
  • Analytical Skills : Ability to perform detailed quantity take-offs and pricing for excavation, grading, and utilities.

Responsibilities :

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil excavation projects including site preparation, grading, trenching, and utility installation.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documents to prepare comprehensive estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather essential information for accurate estimating.
  • Review and interpret schematics and blueprints to determine project requirements.
  • Calculate quantities of materials, labor, and equipment needed for excavation and grading projects.
  • Monitor project progress and adjust estimates as necessary to ensure adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including cost reports and bid proposals.
  • Provide support in negotiating and managing contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.

Skills :

  • Strong knowledge of excavation and grading processes, techniques, and materials.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and blueprints.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality control.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make decisions under pressure.
  • Familiarity with construction estimating software such as HeavyBid, HCSS, or similar platforms.
