About the Unit
UofL Hospital's Emergency Department is a regional Level 1 Trauma Center and is the gateway for many of these patients. We care for over 70,000 patients per year with a focus on trauma, burn, neuro, high risk obstetrics, psychiatric, and pulmonary patients as well as caring for the student athletes of the University of Louisville.
Our ED is a 46 bed ED with a 10 bed Admission unit with an ability to care for any level of acuity that crosses our threshold.
Building a new 24 bed Observation unit manned by our Emergency Department as part of the new West Tower addition project.
Schedule to open in January 2025.

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Licensed or eligible for license in Kentucky
- Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required for some units
- Associates’s degree from accredited college or University
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from accredited college or University
