The Job

Marsh McLennan Agency’s Northwest region is looking for a highly collaborative, passionate and forward-thinking Sales Development Director.

As a vital member of our sales leadership team, the Sales Development Director will collaborate with our Sales Directors and Managing Directors in Business Insurance and Employee Health & Benefits to support the growth and development of our new sales colleagues.

We’re looking for a leader who’s passionate about identifying opportunities to do things better and inspiring our colleagues to strive for excellence and stay ahead of the competition.

The Sales Development Director will be a key contributor, driving continuous profitable growth and responding with agility to changing objectives and industry trends.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and deliver program design and objectives to effectively onboard and assimilate new sales colleague hires.
  • Lead a team of highly talented new sales colleagues. Work to develop a cohort program aimed at first career hires with the intent of developing those colleagues through this program.
  • Collaborate with Managing Directors and Sales Directors to develop, implement and sustain a defined sales process that emphasizes value outside of products sold, and promote cross-selling and consistency across all departments.
  • Partner with the Talent Aqcuisition team to recruit and hire new sales executives.
  • Work strategically with your assigned regional production teams to develop, execute and monitor business plans and sales pipelines to achieve sales and revenue growth objectives.

Provide sales education and support to emerging sales executives throughout the region.

  • Consistently hold your assigned producers accountable to maintaining an active pipeline for the region, and consistently help move top prospects to clients.
  • Assist with the development of sales interns.
  • Develop and maintain positive carrier and vendor relationships to meet client and agency goals and objectives, including maximizing carrier resources, offering and compensation, and cultivating new market opportunities.
  • Promote operational excellence by collaborating with leadership to develop, expand and implement solutions.
  • Actively participate as a leader in company initiatives and support our core values; including but not limited to driving and promoting community involvement of others.

Who We're Looking For

You’re an insurance and / or leadership professional. An insurance background is strongly preferred but not required. The ideal candidate would have a passion and deep understanding for all things related to sales and insurance.

You’re a skilled leader and developer of sales professionals and have a track record of success.

  • You’ve got the experience. The ideal candidate would have 2-4 years of experience in insurance and that includes proven success in sales and / or leadership.
  • You’re strategic yet influential. You can communicate a compelling vision for MMA Northwest- a vision that is believable and encourages others to buy-in and follow.
  • Team oriented. You maintain positive relationships with your colleagues and you enjoy it. You inspire and motivate people by promoting an atmosphere of teamwork.
  • You DO sweat the small stuff. You’re analytical, detail-oriented and extremely organized.
  • You possess leadership skills. You have the ability to inspire others and promote company initiatives and priorities to your team.

  • Travel is not an issue for you. This position requires travel to meet with colleagues, prospects and clients.

The Perks :

We take pride in providing our colleagues with a competitive compensation package; we will honor all local and state salary thresholds.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education.

The salary range for this position is $88,300-$164,900 / year. Additionally, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives, annual profit sharing and a benefits package that includes paid paternity / maternity leave, medical leave, 401K savings and other wellbeing programs.

Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
