Job Title : Senior Desktop Engineer (Contract)
Location : Camden, NJ (Onsite 3 Days a Week)
Contract Length : 1 Year
Rate : $40 - $45 / hour
Overview :
We are seeking an experienced Senior Desktop Engineer to join our client’s team on a 1-year contract basis. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in desktop engineering, with a focus on SCCM and Intune, and the ability to manage and complete projects.
This role is responsible for supporting and enhancing end-user computing across multiple locations and may involve some travel to various sites on the East Coast.
Responsibilities :
- Provide expert-level support for desktop and laptop systems, including software and hardware troubleshooting.
- Utilize SCCM and Intune to push out software packages, manage encryption, and handle antivirus deployments.
- Perform site visits across the Northeast U.S. as needed, particularly for a major printer transition project (from Xerox to HP).
- Coordinate printer installations, work with third-party vendors for hardware removal, and test to ensure operational functionality.
- Collaborate with the IT and business teams to gather requirements and ensure smooth project implementations.
- Act as a liaison between IT and business units during site visits and project work, ensuring excellent communication and timely resolutions.
- Lead medium to large-scale projects such as RFPs for printers and laptops, migration projects, and system upgrades.
- Handle escalations for Level 2 and 3 support issues, ensuring SLA compliance and customer satisfaction.
- Provide after-hours support as required.
Technical Skills :
- 5+ years of experience in Desktop Engineering.
- Expertise with SCCM and Intune for package deployment and desktop management.
- Strong understanding of desktop support best practices, including troubleshooting images, pushing software packages, and managing devices.
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals (IDFs, routers, etc.).
- Experience with ServiceNow (preferred).
- Ability to identify root causes for technical issues and implement appropriate solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with end users and cross-functional teams.
Additional Considerations :
- Must be comfortable with occasional travel to various locations along the East Coast.
- The role includes leading a large-scale printer replacement project, as well as potential involvement in a warehouse management system migration.
- Candidates should be self-starters who can manage projects independently but are not afraid to ask questions when needed.
Team Overview :
You will be joining a team of desktop engineers and project managers, collaborating to deliver high-quality support and project outcomes across multiple sites.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders are key.
