Requirements :
School Counselor License & Certification
Approved by the State Department of Education as a School Social Worker or School Counselor
Prefer one year of experience in school counseling which can include a counseling internship.
Responsibilities / Qualifications :
Knowledge of the requirements of state and federal mandates which directly affect school counselors.
Provide direct services to individual students for emotional and behavioral support.
Participate in problem-solving teams or assist individual teachers to consider student-specific data, brainstorm possible strategies and interventions, and develop a plan of action to address a student-specific need.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and families.
Knowledge about best practices for engaging students and families with emotional and behavioral concerns.
Familiarity with tiered systems of school-wide Positive Behavior Support practices.
Experience with MTSS preferred.
