What We Offer

The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. The salary range for this position is $89,144 - $147,088.

Location

The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. CASR employees work in the office at least two days per week.

Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their out-of-office days. The office location is the Wellington Webb Municipal Building at 201 W Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80202.

What You’ll Do

The Office of Climate Action, Sustainability and Resiliency’s (CASR) mission is to accelerate Denver’s transition to a carbon pollution-free, sustainable, and climate-resilient community through people-centered policies and programs, and in collaboration with the community.

As a Project Manager , you will be a key part of CASR’s adaptation and resiliency team, reporting directly to the Adaptation and Resiliency Manager.

Climate Adaptation and Resiliency, as part of the Climate Action Office, develops new programs, strategies, and partnerships to enable the significant shifts needed in ecological, social, and economic systems to respond to permanent changes in our climatic system.

The adaptation and resiliency team focuses on climate impacts like extreme heat, flooding, poor air-quality, drought, fire, and extreme weather.

A key priority in this work is to help vulnerable communities prepare and adapt to these climate impacts. The adaptation and resiliency team is developing and implementing seven Heat Summit Series Solutions with partners to prepare Denver for extreme heat.

As part of this effort, this position will supervise staff who implement programs like our private property tree planting program and the USFS Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) tree planting program (a $5 million dollar grant).

Specifically, as the Project Manager you will :

Coach, mentor and supervise 3 or 4 staff.

Assist in the development and implementation of resiliency and adaptation programs.

Lead multidisciplinary teams for high impact programs.

Ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget and have achieved shared goals.

Advise on program design, and performance criteria for program operations.

Present project updates as needed to various city leaders and staff.

Ensure compliance with federal grants and procedures for key projects.

Participates in preparing pre-bid materials defining scope of work and related information necessary for request for proposals.

Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics :

Experience managing staff, budgets and building strong teams.

Knowledge of methods and tools for managing projects including acquisition and procurement management.

Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience working in the state or local government sectors, and / or working in the areas of climate adaptation, resilience, and / or mitigation.

Excellent collaboration skills with demonstrated results of building relationships across agencies.

Bi-lingual skills preferred (English, Spanish, Vietnamese).

Required Minimum Qualifications

Education requirement : Bachelor's Degree in Business, Management, Public Administration, or a related field.

Experience Requirement : Two (2) years of professional project management experience in the related occupational group including coordinating, administering, and monitoring projects.

Education / Experience Equivalency : One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education.

Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
