Located in a beautiful, distinctive, and economically vibrant metropolitan area, the Sturm College of Law offers a full-time JD program, a part-time weekend JD program, a set of pioneering and nationally recognized Master's programs, various dual-degree programs, and a variety of certificate programs (in animal law, constitutional rights and remedies, corporate and commercial law, environmental and natural resources law, intellectual property law, international law, and workplace law).

The law school features an outstanding and diverse student body, a community of nationally recognized scholar-teachers, an accomplished and highly professional staff, and roughly 17,000 alumni who have achieved careers of distinction in law, business, government, public interest, and other professional domains.

Position Summary

  • Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Financial Management, with an independent reporting line to the Assistant Dean of Business & Operations, the Director of Student Financial Management is responsible for (1) developing annual and multi-year financial aid awarding plans that strategically deploy available scholarship and discount funds, with the goal of recruiting an outstanding and diverse study body, enhancing educational access, and strengthening the return-on-investment on the law school's educational offerings;
  • 2) analyzing and reporting upon enrollment, scholarship and discount awards, persistence, and related trends with the objective of developing robust enrollment management models and advancing sound enrollment management practices;

and (3) contributing to efforts in the realms of affordability and financial transparency, including counseling students regarding scholarship opportunities, financing options, and loan repayment.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Financial Management, the Assistant Dean of Business & Operations, and the Executive Director of Development to optimize the deployment of scholarship and discount funds.
  • Analyze and report upon enrollment, scholarship and discount awards, persistence, and related enrollment trends.
  • Partner with the Assistant Dean of Business & Operations and the Executive Director of Development to develop a comprehensive understanding of available scholarship agreements.
  • Counsel applicants, students, and graduates regarding financial aid and financing options.
  • Manage the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP) in collaboration with faculty members.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports to the law school's accreditor and other outside bodies.

  • Experience in planning, organizing, and managing processes.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities while maintaining focus on details and outcomes.
  • Ability to function in a high-paced, collaborative work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited four-year university or college.
  • Three years of relevant job-related experience.
  • Strong quantitative and analytic skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree.
  • Coursework in finance and / or business administration.
  • Experience working in higher education admissions.
  • Up-to-date understanding of student financial aid policies and developments.
  • Experience working on high-performing, collaborative teams.
  • Proven ability to forge mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Banner system and / or comparable higher educational and / or financial software.

Working Environment

  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
