The Department of Workforce Services (DWS) is seeking a motivated and highly skilled Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor II to join our Utah State Office of Rehabilitation (USOR) team in the Davis District located in Centerville, UT.
This will allow you to practice the latest techniques in rehabilitation counseling while developing strong partnerships with other agencies and programs to help clients enter or reenter the labor market.
Principal Duties The Rehabilitation Counselor II performs the following tasks :
- Provides counseling services to a combination of general caseload and transition youth, ages 14-24.
- Provides full performance level vocational counseling and guidance, training and selective job placement services to individuals with disabilities.
- Partners with the community and provides outreach to vendors to collaborate and coordinate agency activities and facilitate agency goals.
- Travels weekly to provide outreach to schools, parents, business partners, community partners and training meetings.
- Exercises a great deal of independent decision making.
This position may be under-filled as a Rehabilitation Counselor I or a Rehabilitation Trainee.
- Rehabilitation Trainee - BS Degree - No work related experience - $20.42.
- Rehabilitation Counselor I - BS Degree + 1 year work related experience - $22.45.
- Rehabilitation Counselor II - Masters in VRC or related field + 1 year work related experience - $24.66.
Minimum Requirement
The model applicant for this position is someone who :
- Has a Bachelors or Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or a related field of study.
- Has experience in vocational rehabilitation counseling or providing vocational counseling, employment counseling, job development and placement, career coaching or academic training to individuals with disabilities.
- Has experience providing direct services to individuals with disabilities.
Preference
Preference points may be given for the following :
- Current state of Utah employees.
- One or more years of professional experience in counseling.
