Job Summary :
In this highly visible role in the Individual Annuities team, you’ll have direct responsibility for key aspects of the IA actuarial operations including : financial reporting, valuation, financial planning, strategy support, operational support, and other ad-hoc research projects.
This role will lead a team of onshore and offshore credentialed actuaries and actuarial students.
You’ll put your strategic thinking to work as you drive our financial planning and strategy projections, reflecting reinsurance impacts, incorporating new products, and performing sensitivity analysis.
In addition to managing our FP&A function, this role will require oversight of our financial close, including all relevant streamlining, automation, and analysis.
This role is key to ensuring the integrity of the GAAP and Statutory financial results. You’ll partner and interface with key stakeholders including IA’s Division Head, Sales and Marketing team, Pricing and Rate Setting team, Operations, Corporate Actuarial and Finance leadership, and IT.
This role provides a unique opportunity to drive business results as IA works to continue to grow its product suite and distribution footprint.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with a wide range of non-technical functions and will also bring a strong technical background including depth in valuation, planning, actuarial modeling (AXIS experience strongly preferred), and strong technical communication.
Depending on the scope of the role, the responsibilities could include :
- Formal and informal leadership for the division, including management of a team of roughly nine people, including both onshore and offshore staff.
- Champion cross training and process documentation of each product’s reporting processes.
- Cultivate professionalism by encouraging collaboration with colleagues, ownership of results, and implementation of creative technical solutions.
- Oversee IA’s financial planning process, coordinating updates with partners, and ensuring appropriate messaging of the results with senior leadership and partners.
- Support strategy projections, enterprise capital strategy, and investment strategy analysis.
- Implement LDTI methodology changes (primarily DAC) and partner with external consultant for implementation of market risk benefit valuation for a small block of index business
- Supervise annual assumption updates to policyholder experience studies and ensuring consistent assumptions between various actuarial models and align with key partners on methodology.
- Facilitate reinsurance analysis to potentially support sales growth, profitability, capital efficiency, and distribution footprint expansion.
- Drive efficient use of offshore teams for routine financial reporting processes and ad-hoc business support activities.
- Keep abreast of regulatory issues in order to determine applicability to reporting.
Required Qualifications :
- Strong competency in risk analysis and assessment via modelling.
- Experience with fixed / indexed individual rate setting.
- ASA designation, or equivalent, required. FSA may be required depending on the specific role and id expected for responsibilities over reserve adequacy and product filings.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in : Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Business or a related field preferred.

- Eight or more years of actuarial experience.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year.
Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.
Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
Salary Range :
$172,750.00 - $276,500.00
