Role description :
Arcadis is seeking a Construction Inspector, with 8-10 years of experience, to join our Water Division as part of our construction management team on construction projects south of Boston, MA.
This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country.
As a Construction Inspector, you will utilize your experience and technical knowledge of municipal infrastructure, water and wastewater facilities and general building projects to successfully oversee construction projects in conjunction with our highly experienced Project Managers and design team personnel.
Role accountabilities :
Construction Oversight : Manage day-to-day construction efforts on major municipal contracts; this will include acting as a liaison to design staff to ensure RFI's are being addressed along with review of shop drawings.
This will also require technical review of construction plans / specifications and project changes for constructability and practicality.
Supervise : In this position you will be responsible for supervising Arcadis field support staff as needed and manage inspection staff and the delivery of daily inspector reports in accordance with clients requirements.
A large part of supervisory duties are to make sure the contractor's performance, schedule, responsiveness and effectiveness meet Arcadis standards and align with project goals, schedules, payment
Safety : Responsible for overall site safety, construction contract and permit compliance.
Communication : Maintain communication with contractors, Arcadis Staff and Town / City municipal personnel as needed. You will need to communicate / coordinate with office staff responsible for record keeping, general correspondence, compiling and drafting of required reports and deliverables.
Use effective oral and written communication skills to effectively support progress, project, safety, scheduling and other contract administration.
Qualifications & Experience :
- Prior experience as a Construction manager, inspector or supervisor, acting in the capacity of an Assistant Resident Engineer or Lead Resident Engineer, on sanitary sewer pipeline or related utilities construction projects.
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrated commitment to providing a safe and healthful workplace
- Ability to coordinate and work closely with ARCADIS personnel and remain responsive to Corporate requirements.
Preferred Qualifications :
- 8-10 years of experience with at least 3 years of Resident Engineering experience.
- Active participation in a regional or national professional associations.
