Title : Pastor of Student Ministries Draper Campus
Position Summary :
The Pastor of Youth Ministry at South Mountain Community Church is responsible for overseeing all aspects of ministry to youth, from middle school through high school ages.
This position plays a crucial role in nurturing the spiritual growth of young people, building a vibrant community, and equipping leaders to effectively disciple youth.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for youth ministry, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of SMCC.
Key Responsibilities :
- Youth Ministry Leadership : Provide visionary leadership for the youth ministry, developing and implementing strategies to engage and disciple students effectively.
- Recruit Volunteers : Identify, recruit, and train volunteers to serve in various capacities within the youth ministry, including small group leaders, event coordinators, worship leaders, and mentors.
- Train Small Group Leaders : Equip and empower small group leaders to facilitate meaningful discussions, lead Bible studies, and build authentic relationships with students.
- Create a Culture of Excellence : Foster a culture of excellence within the youth ministry by setting high standards for programming, leadership development, and ministry execution.
- Partner with Parents : Develop intentional strategies to engage and support parents in the spiritual formation of their teenagers, providing resources, encouragement, and opportunities for involvement.
- Pastoral Care : Provide pastoral care and support to youth and their families, offering guidance, counseling, and prayer as needed.
- Event Planning : Plan and execute regular youth events, retreats, camps, and service projects that facilitate community building, discipleship, and outreach.
- Collaboration : Work collaboratively with other church staff members, ministry teams, and volunteers to integrate the youth ministry into the broader vision and mission of SMCC.
- Communication : Maintain regular communication with parents, volunteers, and youth, keeping them informed about upcoming events, ministry opportunities, and resources.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in theology, ministry, or a related field (theological education preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in youth ministry leadership.
- Strong biblical knowledge and theological understanding.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and empower volunteers.
- Passion for working with youth and helping them grow in their faith.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of SMCC.
This is a full-time position requiring hours per week, with flexibility needed for evening and weekend events. The Pastor of Youth Ministry will report directly to the Campus Pastor and will be supported by the broader church staff and leadership team.
