Overview :

Dictates overall fraud strategy across Digital products within their area of specialty using analytics derived from multiple datasets and tracking tools.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Query and analyze large data sets to find root cause exploits and / or patterns of fraudulent activity.
- Complete basic to complex systems analysis, design, and development regarding anti-fraud rule policies. Assist the product lines in addressing daily problems / issues of any scope.
Participate in integrated testing as required.
- Implement basic rule policy changes from internal recommendations, and / or self-identified risk to thwart recent fraud scam attempts.
- Ensure efficient and timely resolution of issues arising from Rule testing and / or implementation to ensure expected performance.
- Review transaction data from the real-time fraud detection system and other reporting sources and complete additional research in various internal and external systems to identify potentially fraudulent transactions, or rules needing adjustments.
- Determine feasible solutions and make recommendations to reduce losses and mitigate newest fraud trends.
- Analyze reports of fraud, claims, and loss. Subsequently and independently determine next steps to alleviate identified schemes.
- Intake reports of fraud; review and research, and complete accurate documentation, escalating reports of fraud as appropriate.
Handle initial reports of incidents requiring immediate and timely steps to rectify issues.
- Research and collect supporting data and documents relevant to reported fraud and claims, provide detailed explanation to claims area regarding pay / denial decision findings.
- Research, resolve, and respond to requests and inquiries from branches, departments, and customers related to fraud.
- Investigate claims for further handling by collecting information to analyze and evaluate fraud risk.
- Complete day-to-day support activities for fraud policy and rule systems and special projects.
- Remain current on fraud trends in the industry and those impacting the Bank’s portfolios. Recommend and / or implement changes to fraud detection system parameters to higher management to optimize fraud detection while minimizing negative customer impact.
Serve as subject matter expert in fraud patterns and schemes impacting the financial services industry.
- Recommend new technology, policies, or processes to benefit the organization and improve deficiencies.
- Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required :
- Combined minimum of 4 years' higher education and / or fraud / business analytics experience.
- Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software packages.
- Solid problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution.
Education and Experience Preferred :
- Bachelor's degree.
- SQL experience.
- NICE Actimize, SaferPayments, or RSA experience.
- Experience or subject matter expert in business with knowledge and experience utilizing application / system being supported.
- Successful performance in Technology Internship.
- Capable of working on multiple projects of basic to moderate complexity.
- Proven understanding of applications supported with a knowledge of interfacing / integrated applications.
- Ability to effectively use project management, word processing, and spreadsheet applications.
- Good understanding of the Bank’s application framework.
- Familiarity with application development software and hardware platforms.

Location / Working Model :
This is a hybrid position based out of our Bridgeport location. Eligible candidates will reside within commuting distance to 850 Main Street, Bridgeport, CT with the expectation of coming into the office at least 2-3 times per week.
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $33.
73 - $53.97 Hourly (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
