General Purpose : We are seeking an IP Manager with experience in calculating damages within patent infringement matters and other intellectual property cases (trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, and copyright infringement).

Managers are assigned to project teams, working under the direction of engagement leaders.

The selected candidate will also assist senior Stout practitioners with business development and marketing activities including proposals, presentations, articles, pitchbooks, and related research.

The candidate will also participate in market-facing activities to develop and maintain relationships with clients and prospects, principally consisting of commercial litigation attorneys and in-house counsel.

The candidate's primary area of responsibility will be in commercial litigation matters, particularly in intellectual property matters including patent, trade secret, copyright and trademark disputes.

Major Duties and Responsibilities :

Support the execution of engagements, with primary responsibility for assisting with the execution of the engagement workplan

Create and review engagement analyses, including financial analysis and modeling

Manage document organization processes including the review, organization, and analysis of case documentation, testimony, court filings, and the identification of relevant information utilized for analysis

Work with engagement leaders to strategize engagement approach; develop engagement workplans; oversee and monitor engagement progress on a daily basis;

and report to engagement leadership on engagement progress and critical path items

Assist with the management of client relationships with and without supervision

Management and performance of company, industry, and case-specific research functions, including technical, economic, accounting, and / or market research to support the basis for our analyses, assumptions, and conclusions

Preparation and review of written reports, presentations and graphical exhibits

Participation in marketing and thought leadership efforts

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Ability to critically analyze financial statements, accounting records, tax returns, and other financial documents on multiple engagements

Understanding of financial documents used in day-to-day business operations and transactions

Proficient in using spreadsheet software (Excel), database software, and other data analysis tools to build detailed, complex financial models to trace actual transactions and / or create flexible and robust scenario analyses;

statistical, economic, and / or population modeling are a plus.

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Ability to develop and critique alternative arguments / opinions

Ability to conduct and / or direct others in thorough and relevant research

Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)

Ability and flexibility to work with changing, client-imposed deadlines

Strong organizational skills

Education and / or Training :

4-year undergraduate degree with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics

4-7 years of relevant professional experience in the accounting, finance, or economic disciplines. Litigation consulting, forensic accounting, and / or valuation experience in intellectual property matters including patent, trade secret, copyright and trademark is required

Designations or advanced degrees a plus (CPA, MBA, etc.)

The range for this role considers several factors including but not limited to prior work and industry experience, education level, and unique skills.

The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $87,000.00 - $195,000.00 Annual. This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
