Job Overview :
We are seeking a highly skilled Trial Attorney to represent our organization in litigation and manage all aspects of the trial process.
The ideal candidate will have significant courtroom experience, a strong background in handling complex cases, and the ability to manage high-stakes litigation from start to finish.
The Trial Attorney will be responsible for developing legal strategies, drafting legal documents, and effectively representing the organization in court.
Key Responsibilities :
- Represent the organization in litigation matters, including pre-trial, trial, and post-trial proceedings.
- Develop case strategies, conduct legal research, and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
- Prepare for and conduct depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials, including jury selection and witness examination.
- Provide legal counsel on litigation risks and recommend courses of action to protect the organization’s interests.
- Manage discovery processes, including drafting discovery requests, responding to discovery, and managing document production.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external experts to gather evidence, develop case theories, and support trial preparation.
- Negotiate settlements when appropriate to resolve disputes efficiently and favorably.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal precedents, rulings, and relevant laws affecting ongoing cases.
- Prepare and present persuasive arguments in court, and handle appeals if necessary.
- Manage litigation budgets and work with outside counsel when necessary.
Qualifications :
- Juris Doctor (JD), LLM, or foreign equivalent law degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in Minnesota.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience as a trial attorney, with significant courtroom and litigation experience.
- Proven track record of taking cases to trial and achieving successful outcomes.
- Expertise in litigation procedures, discovery, motion practice, and trial strategy.
- Strong research, writing, and analytical skills with the ability to synthesize complex legal issues.
- Excellent oral advocacy skills, including the ability to persuade judges, juries, and opposing counsel.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High ethical standards and professional integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience handling complex litigation in areas relevant to our organization (e.g., healthcare, corporate law).
- Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution methods, such as mediation and arbitration.
- Experience managing outside counsel.
