PLEASE NOTE : This is a hybrid remote position that can be located in either Louisville, Denver or Charlotte
Position Objective :
This is a support level position designed for someone to bring creativity and ideas to developing safety policies and documents, as well as storage of critical safety records of our DOT and CDL drivers.
This person will travel regularly 25% to our regional branches located in the United States and be a liaison to corporate leadership and local branch managers related to safety training and safety equipment.
This person will also gain training from the North America Operations Manager, as needed, and the
Director of Safety in North America.
This person will perform assignments designed to develop professional work knowledge and abilities that will include cross-functional experience.
Actively acquires on-the-job training and knowledge of EHS practices to strengthen AAF Internatonal's zero incident safety culture and maintain good environmental stewardship as well as regulatory compliance.
Assignments are at a professional level but require guidance and direction from more experienced Personnel. Performs a variety of routine assignments to provide experience and familiarization with the EHS tasks, methods, practices, and programs of the company.
Completes assignments individually or as part of a team and learns EHS management techniques. Work assignments will be a blend of cross-functional collaboration, and individual assignments.
Key Accountabilities :
- Develop a database in SharePoint for storage of branch personnel records related to Safety required training.
- Develop and maintain a database of all field employees (service and delivery) for driving records, forklift certification and OSHA 10 testing.
- Develop a safety policy for branch specific safety topics, as directed by NA Branch Ops Manager.
- Develop a safety handbook from existing material and internet content for creating a living safety documentation for branch operations and service.
- Review existing content from various locations and people, and organize / update into a searchable library of content that can be used in North America.
- Train branches on new safety updates as they occur in the USA related to DOT,CDL, and OSHA.
- Collect weekly safety stats from branches and report out weekly to North America Branch Operations Manager.
- Maintains a JHA / JSA database and creates content as required for branch safety risks identified during branch visits and audits, as well as from feedback from branch leadership.
- Determines appropriate leading and lagging indicators to track performance against targets and objectives.
- Acts as first line of communication and documenting any safety incident at branches, to be communicated to senior management.
- Maintaining all federal, state, and local incident logs for Branches.
- Works with leadership team and EHS element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS federal, state, and local regulations.
- Uses established safety data processes to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, risk assessments, internal / external audits, and other pertinent information.
Requirements
Position Requirements :
- Degree in related field, such as : Chemistry, Safety, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent work experience in a safety related role;
- Ability to work effectively in a variety of environments and assignments;
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team member.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications;
- OSHA and FMCSA regulations;
- Experience in DOT and Fleet Safety and Regulations preferred;
- Strong team-building skills;
- Strong organizational skill;
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams;
- Willing to learn new professional skills, as paid by employer, to enhance role;
- Proficiency in English (Spanish a plus);
- Root cause analysis and 5-Why practitioner;
- Positive professional attitude and willingness to learn;
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal are required;
- Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams;
- Ability to work with computerized systems and databases.
