6th-8th Grade Physical Education Teacher - Part-time to start August 2024. The PE teacher is a specialist responsible for educating each student in his or her charge and working with students, parents, teachers and staff toward achieving the goals set forth in the Summit mission.
This teacher offers elective courses including physical education and strength / fitness classes. The teacher is supervised and evaluated by the principal.
Qualifications :
The elements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities needed for this position :
- BA / BS in a related field, with an advanced degree / certification in physical education and health; teaching certificate a plus
- Experience teaching physical education and health preferred
- Strengths in teaching physical education to diverse students with various developmental learning stages, following BVSD Physical Education and Health standards
- Plans student-centered, fitness-related activities and coordinates and implements both individual and team sports with emphasis on skill development, team sports values and growth mindset
- Expertise in health / wellness curriculum development
- Models mature understanding of adolescent development, excellent communication skills and demonstrates professionalism in course content that includes personal information, relationship dynamics, social, physical, and emotional wellbeing
- Collaborates and engages in reflective inquiry with peers and administrators for the purpose of improving instructional practice and student and teacher learning
- Experience using a varied repertoire of instructional strategies, including relevant meaningful and engagement fitness, wellness and team sports approaches
- Ability to assess grade level needs utilizing Summit’s standards and benchmarks
- Use of technology applications and instructional technology practices
