Description
- Design, implement, and maintain effective EHS policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the specific needs of the freeze-dried food and baked kibble manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans to prevent recurrence.
- Develop and maintain emergency response and preparedness plans.
- Provide training and education to employees at all levels on EHS policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement through regular communication and training sessions.
- Develop and implement occupational health and safety programs, including ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and employee wellness initiatives.
- Monitor workplace conditions and employee practices to ensure a safe working environment.
- Manage and direct Safety investigations post health and safety incidents.
- Oversee environmental programs, including waste management, recycling, air and water quality, and sustainability initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and maintain required documentation and reporting.
- Establish and monitor EHS performance metrics and goals.
- Prepare and present regular reports on EHS performance to senior management and regulatory agencies.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred.
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or similar certification is highly desirable.
- 7-10 years of EHS management experience, preferably in the food manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards including worker’s compensation.
- Proven ability to lead, develop, and implement effective EHS programs.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
