Job Summary : We are looking for a talented Product Copywriter to write compelling product descriptions for . The Product Copywriter will be responsible for creating engaging, informative, and persuasive content that showcases our products and helps a customer make an educated purchase decision. Position Summary
- Researches and gathers pertinent product content (50% of day-to-day).
- Creates, writes and edits product content for (50% of day to day).
- Collaborate with the eCommerce, Marketing and Merchant teams to understand product messaging goals and align copy with the overall marketing strategy.
- Ensures content is accurate, engaging and is optimized content for search engines (SEO) that includes relevant keywords and phrases.
- Write product copy that is persuasive and informative, while maintaining a consistent West Marine brand tone of voice.
- Evaluates current product naming conventions, product descriptions and optimizes and rewrites as necessary
- Utilize analytics tools to track and analyze the performance of your product descriptions and make data-driven decisions.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in copywriting to continually improve the effectiveness of your content.

Category Applicable Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Minimum education required / preferred, area of study :
Vocational qualification bachelor's degree in English, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Minimum years of relevant experience required :
3 - 5 years of agency / consultancy or in-house copy experience.
Additional skills / knowledge required include :
- Proven experience as a Product Copywriter or related role.
- Demonstrable portfolio of high-quality product descriptions (must provide writing samples to be considered).
- Working knowledge of boating industry products.
- Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with a confident command of spelling, grammar, and punctuation / .
- Strong research and analysis skills.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and ability to use keyword tools.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced, collaborative, team environment.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as proprietary software.
- Experience publishing in a Content Management System (Salesforce Commerce Cloud, WordPress, Shopify, Wix, etc.)
Preferred experience, certification(s), skill(s), if applicable :
- Some experience with PM and collaboration tools; SmartSheets, JIRA / Confluence.
- Experience managing initiatives and projects under an Agile Framework, a plus.
- Strong understanding of Google Analytics (or similar digital analytics solutions) preferred.
- Experience in the retail industry plus.
