Procurement Specialist - Power Industry

Description

This position allows for a hybrid work schedule, with three days in our Chicago, IL office and two days from home.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

• Draft, assemble and issue request for proposal (RFP) packages to suppliers / subcontractors
• Expedite suppliers / subcontractors / engineering input, as appropriate
• Support S&L clients in their procurement processes
• Evaluate proposals from suppliers / subcontractors
• Perform risk assessments on potential and existing subcontracts
• Negotiate and finalize terms and conditions, including those related to indemnities, warranties, liabilities, pricing, schedule, etc.
• Create purchase orders in S&L’s internal vender management systems
• Manage and administer the subcontract life cycle process for assigned projects
• Monitor and evaluate contract performance
• Record keeping / document control with audit involvement
• Processing vendor invoices for payment
• Coordinate and work closely with engineering project managers, suppliers, contractors, subcontractors and client personnel

Essential skills and experience :

• Bachelor Degree
• Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement and / or contract administration
• Strong written, verbal, & people communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with project managers, engineers, clients, suppliers and contractors as necessary
• MS Office Suite proficiency

Valued but not required skills and experience :

• Power industry experience supporting large power generation, substation or transmission line projects
• CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) and / or C.P.M (Certified Purchasing Manager) designation
• Experience with Deltek Costpoint and MS Outlook
