Barbacks serve patrons by acting as the main support to the bar team by stocking and prepping necessary bar mise en place, keeping the bar clean and stocked, assisting with water and bread service, and guest mise en place, adhering to sanitation and safety policies, clearing and cleaning bar, chairs, and environment.
Barbacks play an integral role in ensuring our Guests have exceptional bar and / or dining experiences. At all times, Barbacks are expected to be attentive to our Guests’ needs, making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.
The right person will be passionate about food, beverage, and service and thoroughly enjoy creating excellent experiences for our Guests.
The ideal candidate will have a friendly, outgoing disposition and previous experience working as a Barback in a bustling, fast-paced restaurant setting.
Barback shifts maybe breakfast, lunch, or dinner; and will include weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities :
Assisting with opening and closing duties, such restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, ensuring that Bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc.
Ensuring bar is well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer.
Checking taps and appliances to confirm that they are working properly, making minor repairs or changing out kegs, if needed.
Keeping the bar clean by wiping down surfaces, cleaning soiled glassware, and cleaning bar surfaces and equipment.
Speaking to customers, answering questions, handling complaints by involving bartenders and / or managers as necessary.
Maintain records and report levels of usage to assist in reordering process and ensuring that delivered items are stored properly.
Prepares bar for patrons by assisting with setting and detailing bar, preparing waters, sanitation stations, napkins, service plates, glassware, and utensils.
Maintains bar diners by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, being alert to patron spills or other special needs.
Inform Guests of basic information about offerings at the restaurant or other bar-lab venues on property and / or locally
Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to all bar-lab policies and procedures, sanitation standards, safety and alcohol control policies
Knowledge of all table and position numbers
Assisting bartenders and Guests with bread and water service
Communicate clearly any additional orders or needs the Guests may have to bartender or manager
Deliver used dishes and utensils to the kitchen for cleaning
Contribute to team effort by assisting other staff as time allows
Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by manager
Fill in for absent staff as needed
Assist with special events as needed
Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently
Promptly address Guest service issues and refer to management when necessary
Additional requests made by management to maintain flow of service, Guest experience, and / or restaurant cleanliness
Qualifications :
Previous restaurant experience required
Physically able to carry 35 pounds; able to stand, bend, and move throughout shift
Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks
Works well and efficiently under pressure
Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of staff and management
