Supervisor, Mechanical Engineering
Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Supervisor, Mechanical Engineering.

Job Summary :
The Supervisor, Mechanical Engineering provides overall supervision to the designated Mechanical Engineering team through development and maintenance of engineering policies and procedures under the direction of the Manager, Mechanical Engineering.
These policies and procedures will be consistent with organizational requirements and corporate standards. Develops performance objectives for the department and individuals within the department in support of the strategic goals of Fike Corporation.
Provides engineering project or system design, investigation, experimentation, analysis, documentation and reporting for global product requirements.
Provides project leadership from conception through product decommissioning. Requires independent interpretation of requirements and discussion of problems with various employees and customers.
Confers with Sales, Operations, and Quality team members. Provides timely, cost effective, technical results.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Examines engineering and / or business process for areas of improvement or increased productivity and leads or facilitates implementation of said improvements.
- Participates in development and management of department processes and metrics in line with corporate strategies and goals.
- Participates in development and management of department budget.
- Provides formal supervision, performance management, and skill development of engineering personnel, including but not limited to training log updates, corrective actions, compensation recommendations, counseling, and feedback.
- Collaborates with stakeholders to identify and clarify priorities between competing short-term, long-term, urgent, and / or important projects or issues.
- Makes work assignments for team members and monitors metrics, quality of work, and compliance to internal and external requirements.
- Analyzes research data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposal.
- Serves as team leader or team member on multiple projects.
- Confers with Sales, Marketing, Production and Quality to clarify or resolve problems.
- Creates test procedure for solving problems.
- Acts as a consultant and mentor for less experienced personnel.
- Performs experiments to determine necessary engineering parameters.
- Discusses, analyzes, summarizes and publishes with appropriate personnel, test results.
- Uses test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.
- Evaluates test results for possible application to development of other uses.
- Prepares or directs preparation of product or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
- Performs project and system design.
- Confers with other engineering personnel and prepares design modifications as required.
- Interacts with customers to understand product application and to provide solutions to their requirements and product problems.
- Writes procedures for the operation of new or existing processes.
- Develops an understanding of and applies applicable technical, industry, and 3rd party compliance standards
- Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed.
Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work will be performed in an office environment or an industrial setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit, and use hands. Some travel domestically and internationally as required.
Job Qualifications :
REQUIRED : Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline. Eight years post degree experience.
PREFERRED : Master's degree in a related technical field. Knowledge of CAD. Experience with ASME Section VIII and applicable military standards.
Background in fluid flow, metallurgy, or stress analysis using finite element methods and a background with manufacturing business system's software.
Previous progressive leadership experience.
Compensation : The starting range for this position is $95,908.80 - $119,908.88 per year and goes up depending on experience and qualifications.
