EHS Program Manager, North America

Opportunity
Reporting to the Regional EHS Manager, the Program Manager is responsible for providing functional and technical support to all operations within the region.
In addition, this position plays a key role in the advancement of strategic environment, health and safety (EHS) initiatives as well as continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental compliance.
The role supports site performance improvement objectives, site understanding and use of related management systems, regional projects and serves as liaison with regulatory agencies in support of locations.
The Program Manager has responsibility to coach, mentor and grow EHS talent across the region.
Specific Responsibilities
- Maintain an understanding of current and proposed safety and environmental regulations within the region.
- Support facilities to ensure regulatory requirements, permits and licenses are understood and that the site is operating within compliance with the same.
Work with facility leadership to develop, implement and monitor planned activities to achieve and maintain compliance.
- Support site injury prevention plan (IPP) and related risk reduction initiates.
- Support Kohler Operating Systems (KOS) and site Kohler Safety Management System (KSMS) and Kohler Environment Management System (KEMS) maturity.
- Develop and implement tools, training, guidance, policies, reporting and programs necessary to improve EHS performance and support communication for related initiatives.
- Conduct safety and environmental management system assessments and compliance with mitigation planning, share compliance risks and corrective actions implemented across the facility and the region.
Monitor and track corrective actions to completion.
- Facilitate timely and accurate reporting of incidents.Analyze trends and assist with root cause identification that ensures proper corrective and preventive actions are executed and sustained across the business.
- Review capital projects to confirm permit needs and any impacts from existing or proposed EHS regulations. Assist with permitting projects in compliance while enabling operational flexibility.
- Influence talent management and development for functional resources across the region.
Skills / Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of safety and environmental laws and regulations
- Ability to work with multiple operations across varying business units
- Experience with EHS auditing, root cause analysis, and corrective action identification and implementation
- Demonstrated communication, negotiation and customer service skills
- Attention to detail and compliance with company policies and procedures
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to achieve results
- Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
- Self-motivated and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science or safety science
- Certification such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, etc. or ability to be certified required
- Current knowledge of regulatory requirements and trends in environmental, occupational hygiene and safety required
- Previous experience within industrial manufacturing is required
- At least seven years of EHS experience with multiple site responsibility preferred
- Lean Six Sigma certification and operations experience preferred
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential to this position
- Position is action oriented requiring the incumbent to creatively plan, prioritize and meet timelines on a consistent basis
- Able to perform effectively with limited supervision across numerous internal and external departments, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and integrity
- Ability to travel up to 60% of the time
Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
The salary range for this position is $88,000 - $111,150. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
