Purpose
Position
Hybrid position responsible for the strategy and execution of corporate media relations and social media. Reports to director, corporate communications.
Works closely with policy and advocacy communications teams to achieve positive business outcomes.
Supervises one team member, as well as possible outside consultants / contractors and is responsible for their assignments, activities and performance.
Requires significant outreach to national, regional and local media outlets and other external audiences. Must be able to work independently and in conjunction with the director of communications, including backing them up as necessary.
Intermittent ability to travel locally, regionally and nationally and to work outside traditional work hours, when necessary, also a part of the position.

Accountabilities
Develop, manage and execute strategic media relations and thought leadership programs to further Constellation’s purpose, values and strategy.
Assist director of communications in advising and counseling executives on external communications issues and media relations opportunities affecting the company.
Partner with policy communications and advocacy teams to achieve business outcomes.
Responsible for researching best-in-class media relations and social media approaches, staying current on trends and technologies, and making recommendations on how we can improve effectiveness.
Lead direct reports in performance planning and ad hoc teams in business planning.
Minimum
Qualifications
Relevant bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 10 years’ experience in communications, journalism or a related field.
Excellent writing and editing skills, both creative and technical.
Demonstrated success as a strategic business partner and leader.
Strategic thinking ability, self-motivation and independence.
Excellent follow through capability; demands high level of performance from self and others.
Master’s degree in communications, journalism or related discipline.
Existing relationships with Baltimore-area, energy, sustainability or philanthropy-focused members of the media.
