Summary :
The General Laborers will provide crucial on-the-ground support for disaster recovery efforts in areas impacted by hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters.
The role involves performing a variety of physical labor tasks, from construction-related duties to general logistical support.
General Laborers will assist with site setup, material handling, debris removal, and other essential functions to facilitate efficient recovery operations.
This position is ideal for individuals who are adaptable, reliable, and ready to deploy on short notice.
Availability : Candidates must be available to deploy within 24 to 72 hours of notification for disaster response missions.
Assignments may last from a few days to several weeks, with some deployments extending up to 30 days or more, depending on operational needs.
Responsibilities :
- Assist with construction tasks, including minor repairs, site preparation, and general cleanup.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment at job sites, loading docks, and other designated locations.
- Operate pallet jacks, hand tools, and other equipment as necessary.
- Aid in setting up and breaking down temporary shelters, base camps, or operational work areas.
- Perform debris removal, clearing pathways, and maintaining site cleanliness and safety.
- Ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials and equipment throughout the site.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a hazard-free environment.
- Support supervisors and team members with additional tasks as needed, ensuring that operational goals are met.
- Adhere to timelines and assist in the coordination of on-site logistics and labor efforts.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in construction, logistics, or general labor roles preferred.
- Ability to operate pallet jacks, hand tools, and other material handling equipment.
- Willingness to work in diverse conditions, including outdoor and potentially hazardous environments.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs).
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively under high-stress conditions.
- Ability to deploy at short notice and work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Flexibility and willingness to assist with various tasks, including construction-related duties.
Working Conditions : This role requires working in outdoor environments and conditions that may be physically demanding and potentially hazardous.
Flexibility in working long hours, irregular schedules, and in varying weather conditions is essential. Laborers must be able to stand, walk, lift, and move for extended periods.
