Mainframe CICS Engineer

Primary Location : Chicago, Illinois

V-Soft Consulting is currently hiring for a Mainframe CICS Engineer for our premier client in Chicago, Illinois .

Education and Experience

• A minimum of ten years working as a CICS Systems Programmer / Engineer.
• Knowledge of all CICS parameters that control performance in a CICSPlex environment.
• Knowledge of SMP / E, software upgrade and maintenance.
• Must have CPSM expereince.
• In depth knowledge of CICS SMF record structure and the CICS Performance Analyzer tool to gather statistics for tuning CICS regions.
• Experience with CICSPlex SM implementation & customization, dynamic transaction routing, etc.
• Ability to perform problem determination, dump analysis and performance tuning.
• Experienced with the CICS monitoring tools Sysview.
• Knowledge of Cobol to support application developers.
• Experience with Mainframe WebSphere MQ.

Desired / preferred :

• Assembler and COBOL coding and knowledge of CICS Exits.
• Web application support in a CICS TS V5 environment.
• Knowledge of zOS facilities such as : APF, Linklist, VSAM, LPA, Coupling Facility.
• Experience with CICS Interdependency Analyzer tool.
• Working knowledge of the zOS & CICS Explorer.
• Knowledge of Natural language & Adabas.
• Prior Application programming experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must have strong analytical, organizational and communication skills, as well as in-depth knowledge in CICS performance & tuning, debugging and dump analysis.

Job Responsibilities :

• The Mainframe CICS Systems Programmer is responsible for all phases of CICS engineering, system and software maintenance, and CICS related operation functions.
• In order to be considered for this role must be comfortable working with CICS (and MQ) in an enterprise scale Sysplex and CICSPlex environment.
