As the Veterinary Medical Director you willplay a vital role in leading our veterinary team and ensuring thedelivery of topnotch medical care to our patients.
You will overseeall medical aspects of our practice providing leadership guidanceand expertise to our dedicated team of veterinaryprofessionals.
The Medical Director (MD) isresponsible for providing strong leadership for the hospital incoordination with the hospital manager.
The MD will be managing andmentoring associate veterinarians and assuring regulatorycompliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine.
The MDis also responsible for maintaining an environment of teamwork inwhich the highest quality veterinary medicine is delivered.
Inpartnership with the hospital leadership team the MD holds sharedresponsibility for the financial health of the hospital directingstaff and the overall management of practice operations.
The MDalso serves as a staff veterinarian in addition to theadministrative and leadership duties of the MD role. Effective MDsdemonstrate strong work and professional ethics a positive attitudeand uphold a high standard of patient care.
They are part of thefoundation upon which successful veterinary practices are built anddirectly impact and influence hospital culture and morale.

StrategicFocus
- Work with DVMsto build an understanding and an appreciation of how behaviorsimpact revenue
- Provide feedback to DVMs onweekly / monthly production performance and coach forimprovement
- Ensure that DVM schedules reflectthe needs of the Hospital and assist in other PetVet Hospital DVMstaffing as needed
- Work with the PetVetSupport Center on DVM contract and compensation issues
- Provide stability and leadership within theHospital
- Work with the Hospital Manager onweekly priorities and expectations
- Participatein weekly operational conference calls
- Workwith the Hospital Manager on Medical Staff Scheduling
- Utilize a one on one process for ongoing directcommunication with DVM and Technician Staff
Tactical Focus
- Resolve client issues where appropriate (whenattending DVM or Hospital Manager have not beeneffective)
- Receive and evaluate new productinfo
- Evaluate and monitor protocols for dailyrunning / flow of hospital from intake to discharge
- Monitor cases in hospital and attend daily rounds whenpossible to be sure highest standards are being upheld
- Recommend fees for new products and services
- Meet regularly with the Hospital Manager to reviewcontrollable costs :
DVM and Support Payroll
- Inventory
- Other Medical relatedetc.
- Participate inassistant / technician reviews
- Maintainavailability to answer questions with regards to all aspects ofhospital
- Participate in practice managementupdates and training at all levels
