Sr Lead Infrastructure Engineer - Kafka Streaming

Job Description

As an Experienced sr lead infrastructure engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Global Technology team, you serve as member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading streaming and messaging technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.

You will be developing streaming infrastructure that give our customers leverage right streaming and stream processing technologies on our private and public cloud platforms.

Job Description

• Applies deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies focused on analyzing complex data / systems, anticipating issues and ways to mitigate risk
• Works with other platforms and operations teams to architect and implement changes required to resolve issues and modernize the organization and its technology processes
• Responsible for streaming infrastructure engineering in accordance with business requirements
• Drives results and implements multiple complex programs like data center migrations, cloud migrations, building streaming infrastructure patterns in different regions
• Leverage experience supporting critical production systems to manage incidents appropriately, considers upstream / downstream systems or technical implications, communicating effectively with senior counterparts from Business, Operations and Technology and guide the team to resolve production issues effectively
• Engage with auditors and executes work according to compliance standards, risk and security, and business objectives
• Advises junior engineers and technologists
• Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Knowledge of one or more areas of infrastructure engineering such as : hardware, networking terminology, databases, storage engineering, deployment practices, integration, automation, scaling, resilience or performance assessments
• Adept in specific infrastructure technology and programming languages (e.g., Scripting, Python, etc.)
• Drives to deepen technical knowledge across multiple domains
• Deep knowledge of Cloud Infrastructure and multiple cloud technologies (ability to operate in and migrate across public and private clouds)
• Experience in designing and building secure Kafka / streaming / messaging platform at enterprise scale and integration with other data system in hybrid multi-cloud environment
• Experience with development and continuous deployment in an agile work environment using CI-CD tools like Jenkins.
• Exposure to managing product billing and building optimized cost models

Good to Have Skills :

• Cloud certifications are a bonus.
• Hands on experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
• Knowledge in Kafka Connect, KSQL and KStreams.
• Experience in monitoring and visualizing tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana.
• Working knowledge of networking - VPCs, Transit Gateways, firewalls, load balancers, etc.
• Experience in J2EE, Spring boot, Oracle, Python (Fast API) is an advantage

Your Role Level

The Core and Foundational Platforms group is responsible for defining, developing and operating cloud products consumed by our Application Development Partners across the firm.

Our Product Portfolio includes Private and Public Cloud Platforms and a wide range of services such as databases, messaging, streaming and telemetry.

Application Integration and Streaming (AIS) product line in Core and Foundational Platforms enables integration across apps by providing capabilities to communicate either by moving data in the form of events, files or streams or by APIs.

As a Kafka infrastructure developer you will work as part of the Kafka Product Engineering team in Application Integration & Streaming product line.

This is an opportunity for a highly motivated Infrastructure developer to join Streaming products team that owns and manages JPMC's streaming platform in hybrid cloud environment.

You will contribute to building the core capabilities for data streaming, pipelines and data mesh using cloud native and open source technologies like Kafka, AWS MSK, Kafka connect, KStreams
