Position Announcement
Utah Valley University is seeking a strategic and dedicated leader to serve as Director of its Military-Affiliated Student Hub (MASH).
This role offers a unique opportunity to direct and enhance all activities within MASH, ensuring effective support for military-affiliated students as they reintegrate into civilian academic life, advance toward graduation, and succeed in career placement.
The Director will be responsible for daily operations, budget administration, and staff oversight, including hiring, onboarding, training, and payroll.
A commitment to compliance with Veteran Administration (VA), Federal, State, and Department of Defense (DoD) policies is essential.
This role also emphasizes collaboration, requiring the Director to build and maintain partnerships across UVU and with external organizations to expand resources and support for military-affiliated programs.
Additionally, the Director will engage with the MASH Advancement Board to strengthen advocacy for military-affiliated students.

Summary of Responsibilities
Directs the development and implementation of activities that meet the various needs of Veteran and Military connected students.
Includes developing programs to help with the transition from Military to Civilian and Student life. Manages the awarding of military-affiliated scholarships.
Coordinates with Institutional Advancement (IA) on sponsorships and donations for the Military-Affiliated Student Hub (MASH) scholarship fund and military-affiliated education support.
Coordinates the internal and external public relations to communicate the UVU MASH mission, goals, and objectives to UVU and military-connected community stakeholders.
Lead efforts to build a welcoming community for veterans, their spouses and their dependents.
Lead efforts to build a welcoming culture for military-affiliated individuals, develop programs to help students with military to student transition, collaborate with the campus community to include but not limited to the UVU Army ROTC, and veteran or military-connected faculty, staff, and students to develop a sense of community throughout the University.
Lead efforts to increase enrollment, provide necessary tools to enhance retention, to result in the graduation and completion of desired degree plans and employment.
Provides education and training to the campus community about best practices, alignment of degree plans with VA benefits, and tools to enhance the submission and reduce the timeline of certification of benefits.
Manages the MASH operating budget and expenses. Coordinates with Student Affairs (SA) MARCOM, UVU Licensing and Trademark to ensure that swag and promotional items are in compliance with UVU policy and regulation.
Oversees the Hiring, and supervision of employees assigned to the Military-Affiliated Student Hub (MASH), including full and part-time employees and VA work-study personnel.
Ensures employees are compliant with mandatory training, development and efficiency of assigned duties.
- Assists with recruitment and enrollment of Veterans and military personnel and their families. May involve travel and conference attendance.
- Analyzes and interprets data from various sources related to student veteran success and direct necessary changes in programs.
Includes management of operating budget and records retention for necessary Federal Audits. May include directing and implementing Federal or State grants.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Higher Education, College Student Affairs, Counseling or other related area. Minimum of 1 year experience working with Veteran and / or military connected students in the higher education setting.
Knowledge of Veterans Affairs educational benefit programs and regulations. Experience with Grant writing and administration.
