POSITION SUMMARY
The Operating Room Surgical Technician assists with surgical instruments in the OR based on procedure performed, standards, guidelines, and policies set for the unit.
He / she functions under the guidance of the Registered Nurse and surgeon.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education : HS diploma, Graduate of approved surgical tech school, unless LPN with a minimum of 2 years surgical experience
Experience : Prefer experience in OR or SPD but not required
License : LPN if not a Graduate of approved Surgical Tech School
Certification : American Heart Association BLS.

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for aseptic technique, setting up the required equipment, instrumentation and sterile supplies as needed for their assigned cases;
scrubbing and passing instruments and equipment during surgical procedures; pulling cases as needed, breaking down cases at the end of the procedure, sets up operating room and supplies needed for day / following day’s schedule.
Available for call on an assigned scheduled basis as required by unit need. Perform other duties as assigned.
Education :
Required : Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited surgical technology program.
Preferred : Associate degree.
Experience : Preferred : 1 year.
Preferred : 1 year.
Certifications :
Required : AHA BLS, Surgical Technologist certification.
