Job Description
In this role, you will serve as a missionary on your campus, working closely with our College Team to craft and execute a strategy for reaching and serving your peers with the love of Jesus.
Your responsibilities will include advocating for Thursday Nights at Mariners by inviting students to attend and addressing any barriers to participation.
Additionally, you will focus on building and nurturing a core group of college students, organizing social gatherings, and fostering a community that invites others to join.
Your efforts will culminate in organizing kick-off events that launch on campus Rooted sessions twice a year to create a vibrant network of engaged students.
This position reports to the College Pastor on the Young Adults Team. A part time position, the schedule generally includes time on your college campus (10 hours per week) as well as time in the Irvine office, and Thursday nights services (10 hours per week) for a total of 20 hours per week.
This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The target start date is September 16th.
Responsibilities
Serve as a missionary on your campus : Take the lead in being a missionary on your campus by casting the vision for reaching and serving your community.
Collaborate with the College Team to develop a customized strategy tailored to your campus. The goal is to reach college students with the love of Jesus and invite them into our transformational journey.
Connect college students to Thursday Nights at Mariners : While your primary focus is on the campus, you will also be the main advocate for Thursday Nights at Mariners.
Create consistent opportunities to invite college students to attend church with you, and help them overcome any barriers to participation (e.
g. providing rides to church).
Build and connect a core team of college students on your campus : Spend time in common areas such as the cafeteria, student centers, or other gathering spots with the goal of connecting with other students.
Once you’ve built relationships with 5 to 10 individuals, establish a regular schedule of social gatherings on campus. These gatherings will create a welcoming environment for others to invite their friends.
As the network of college students grows, start casting a vision for reaching the campus and invite them to join the campus team.
Consider the rhythms of both the school and Mariners to determine the best time for a Kickoff Event that would lead into Rooted, held twice a year.
Qualifications
- Current College Student at the campus : (University of California Irvine, Vanguard University, Concordia, Irvine Valley College, Orange Coast College)
- Technical Proficiencies - Experience using the Google Suite, social media, Canva
- Communication Skills - Proficient written and oral communication skills. Comfortable communicating in individual or group settings.
- Magnetic personality who can rally and invite students to be a part of Mariners.
Physical Demands
Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
