Overview
The Histology Technician II position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience, ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred, and involves performing various histology tasks such as trimming, embedding, microtomy, staining, and quality control of samples and slides.
The role also requires strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced lab environment while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining study records.
This position could be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and / or years of experience.
The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person's relevant experience and / or education level.
This is a non-exempt role paying $26-$33 / hour.

General

Specific
- Introductory to proficient in tissue trimming and identification
- Proficient to mastery in the processing of tissue samples according to laboratory protocols
- Proficient to mastery in the skill of embedding tissue into paraffin blocks
- Proficient to mastery in microtomy and to generate quality tissue sections
- Accurately mount tissue specimens on glass slides
- Examine blocks and or slides to identify anatomical landmarks macroscopically or microscopically to ensure tissue preparation meets laboratory requirements
- Timely QC of routine and special stained slides and final reconciliation of study materials
- Proficient to mastery of routine H&E staining, special staining, coverslipping and use of all associated equipment
- Document and maintain study records to comply with appropriate regulatory requirements
- Introductory level of knowledge in alternate histology techniques (examples include cryosectioning, medical device embedding and sectioning)
- Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Education and experience
- Have a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience
- Certified Histology Technician HT or HTL(ASCP), ASCP board certified eligible preferred
- High School Diploma or GED, with lab experience required
Skills and abilities
- Attention to detail with strong organizational and communication skills
- Critical thinking skills to recognize problems and initiate probable solution ideas
- Ability to multitask, be detailed orientated and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with the minimal supervision
- Provide technical input as appropriate
- Perform calibration of laboratory equipment as assigned
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with team members, pathologists and other Inotiv staff members
- Maintain quality standards while adhering to deadlines
- Ability and desire to learn new methods or workflows
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn new laboratory software
