The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Practitioner) is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and certified by a Board recognized certifying organization such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center to engage in the expanded practice of nursing, which includes, but is not limited to advanced assessment, diagnosis, treatment, referrals, consultations, and the performance of mental health services including prescriptive practice.
The APRN will be credentialed by the Medical Staff Office as well. Under the direction of the Medical Director, Administrative Director and designated supervising psychiatrist are responsible to provide psychiatric evaluations, consultations and liaison services to patients within Steward Saint Anne's Hospital.
This may encompass group, individual and / or family therapy to a broad range of clients seeking inpatient and / or outpatient psychiatric services.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / LICENSURE / TECHNICAL / OTHER :
- Education : R.N. / Master's degree in Nursing required. ANA certification as a Clinical Specialist in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing and / or ANA certification as Nurse Practitioner, certified in family and / or adult psychiatry in Mental Health, 30 CEUs, education in pharmacology of psychotropic drugs and certain legal drugs.
- Experience : 2 years of Advance Practice Nursing preferred.
- Certification / Licensure : Massachusetts State Licensed as a Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist of Nurse Practitioner.
Registration with M.A. Department of Health Board of Pharmacy.
Registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for prescribing medications.
