In this pivotal role, you'll ensure that the highest quality standards are met across various production facilities, working directly with plant personnel, customers, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement.
Job Overview
As a Quality Engineer, you will be a key player in maintaining and enhancing the companys quality systems, aligning product quality with customer requirements, and addressing production challenges.
You'll collaborate closely with the Plant Quality Manager and engage with both internal teams and external partners to resolve issues, conduct audits, and support the implementation of quality best practices across all manufacturing sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Plant Quality Manager in maintaining the current quality systems.
- Review and verify customer product quality requirements, ensuring compliance.
- Aid in resolving customer and supplier concerns through timely problem containment and corrective actions.
- Perform internal quality audits and assist with supplier audits and development efforts.
- Travel to various company and customer facilities as needed to address quality issues.
- Attend customer meetings to follow up on rejects, concerns, and quality-related queries.
- Conduct scrap reviews and present findings to the appropriate manufacturing plants.
- Assist in special projects such as Launch Teams, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and more.
- Train hourly personnel on quality specifications and best practices.
- Investigate product defects, recommending process or quality standard improvements.
- Compile customer standings data and report findings to leadership.
- Prepare and submit PPAP documentation for new or modified products.
- Monitor and support the Corrective / Preventive Action System.
- Participate in internal audits and collaborate on the implementation of "Best Practices" across plants.
Recommended Qualifications
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive quality initiatives across teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficient in problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Skilled in the use of quality tools such as PPAP, APQP, SPC, MSA, and PFMEA.
- Competent in GD&T, blueprint reading, and quality systems management.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 standards.
- Proficiency in computer systems, software, and analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering or technical degree, or ASQ certification.
- 3-7 years of experience in quality or a related field within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma).
