Manager of Accounting Systems and Data Governance

Position Overview : We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager of Accounting Systems and Data Governance to oversee and optimize our financial data management processes and systems.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, data governance, and technology, along with the ability to lead a team, implement best practices, and drive process improvements.

This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and security of our financial data while supporting strategic decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities :

1. Accounting Systems Management :

• Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of accounting and financial systems, ensuring seamless integration with other business systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design solutions, and execute system upgrades or changes to meet evolving business needs.
• Provide guidance and support for end-users, troubleshoot system-related issues, and ensure proper training and documentation.

2. Data Governance and Compliance :

• Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and security of financial data.
• Monitor and enforce data quality controls, data retention policies, and data access permissions to comply with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, SOX).
• Lead efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate data risks, ensuring data privacy and confidentiality.

3. Team Leadership :

• Manage a team of accounting systems and data governance professionals, providing mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging professional growth and development within the team.

4. Process Improvement :

• Continuously assess and improve financial data management processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual tasks, streamline workflows, and optimize data flow across different systems.

5. Stakeholder Collaboration :

• Collaborate with finance, IT, and other relevant departments to align data management strategies with business objectives.
• Engage with senior management to provide insights on data quality, system performance, and potential areas of improvement.

6. Reporting and Analysis :

• Generate regular reports and analyses on data quality, system utilization, and performance metrics for management review.
• Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to support strategic decision-making.

7. Technology Evaluation and Vendor Management :

• Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to accounting systems and data governance.
• Evaluate and select third-party vendors or solutions as needed, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance with service level agreements.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.

g., CPA, CISA) preferred.

• Proven experience (5+ years) in accounting systems management, data governance, or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of financial and accounting principles, practices, and regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and data management tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems and make data-driven decisions.
• Experience in process improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean) is a plus.
• Familiarity with data privacy regulations and compliance (e.g., GDPR, SOX).
• Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Demonstrated experience in managing and developing teams.
