Job Summary

This position will serve as the Business Operations Analyst for the Carol Franck Buck Breast Care Center (BCC) within the Division of General Surgery and will report directly to the BCC Operations Supervisor.

The responsibilities of this position include administrative and organizational support of the BCC Research Programs (I-SPY 2 TRIAL, Athena / WISDOM, BCC Intern Program, etc.

The Business Operations Analyst will provide administrative guidance for the clinical research staff, facilitate the collaborative working relationships, and execute change within the BCC research program as needed to achieve program and positional goals while supporting the mission, vision, goals and values of the organization.

This includes coordination of human resources, finance, space management, information technology, project management, and providing support to the Operations Supervisor.

The role also requires assisting with special projects as they arise and administering defined operational programs while analyzing and resolving operational problems of moderate scope.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.

For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $29.05 - $53.50 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

The UCSF Breast Care Center (BCC) is a nationally recognized leader in breast cancer research. A unit within the Division of Surgical Oncology, in the Department of Surgery, the BCC's clinicians are actively engaged in studies to advance all aspects of breast care including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and improving quality of life.

Our multidisciplinary team of surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, psychologists, nutritionists, and pathologists work with patients to help coordinate care to ensure that all of their concerns are thoroughly addressed.

Our mission is to develop an innovative setting that will ensure that a patient's sense of comfort and participation are central in delivering the best care possible.

The integration with scientists of the Breast Oncology Program ensures the access to state of the art scientific knowledge.

The BCC is also engaged in designing new processes for health care delivery, customized to the needs of individual breast cancer patients.

The BCC Research Program employs 50+ full-time faculty and staff, as well as associated subcontractors and consultants.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Minimum of 1 year of administrative analysis or operations research
  • Working knowledge of standard organization-specific and other computer application programs. Excellent proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Demonstrated skill in word processing to prepare correspondence and other documents with speed and accuracy.

  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, both verbally, and in writing.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a timely and accurate manner with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns. Be able to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, be exceptionally organized, focused with attention to detail, follow through with issues in a timely matter, perform under pressure with increasingly, challenging administrative tasks, accommodate last minute requests efficiently and effectively, respond promptly to conflicting priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, be courteous, work well and interact with a diverse population.
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of UCSF policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of UC Financial systems such as MyReports, MyExpense and BearBuy.
  • Experience working in academic medical setting and understanding best business practices
  • Prior experience working with UCSF purchasing, travel, and reimbursement systems (BearBuy, Conexxus, Concur);
  • Proficiency with Microsoft and Google platforms (especially email and documents) and Zoom
