Job Overview :
This Vice President, Assistant General Counsel position will report to the Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel, Chief Privacy Officer.
The attorney in this role must possess significant subject matter expertise in the areas of data usage, cybersecurity, privacy, technology and vendor management risk and will be responsible for leveraging this expertise to work independently and collaboratively as part of the Privacy Legal Team to provide legal advice and transactional contract support to the firm in connection with its processing of data and its procurement of a wide variety of products and services.
The individual will also support and provide pragmatic legal advice and counsel to internal clients on a range of matters and projects relating to the firm’s use and distribution of its and its customers’ data.
Responsibilities :
Serve as the Privacy Legal Team’s lead attorney for transactional matters requiring privacy, cybersecurity and data management knowledge and expertise.
Drafting and negotiating a high volume of provisions and agreements for a wide variety of data usage, data feed, commercial and technology contracts.
Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts on the development, maintenance and implementation of templates focused on data usage, data feed implementations, privacy and cybersecurity requirements and the related standards.
Establish and maintain an organized process and workflow for the review and negotiation of data, privacy and cybersecurity related contracts and provisions with third parties.
Develop positive cross-departmental working relationships to maintain an open environment for collaboration, risk identification and escalation.
Analyze and apply laws and provide legal advice regarding regulations and corporate policies related to the collection and use of data and personal information, analytics and issues associated with governance of the information life cycle as applicable to the contracting process and standards.

Requirements :
Must have bachelor's degree, J.D., and be admitted to practice
6 + years’ experience working for a large law firm or in-house, with a preference for experience in either the financial services and / or technology / software industry.

The attorney must be well-versed in technology and adept in privacy, risk and regulatory issues.
Creative thinker with a strong work ethic comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and administrative support.
Strong drafting, problem solving and project management skills
Ability to balance and prioritize varying demands and a high volume of contracts and projects and manage deadlines in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
Strong process orientation to manage contract workflow
Ability to interact well with business executives and provide pragmatic advice that balances business needs and legal risks
Pay Range :
$178,160-$267,240 / yearActual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
