deciBel Research has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer in Colorado Springs, CO.
Position Description :
The selected Software Engineer will be responsible for software development and support of the GMD Fire Control (GFC) suite of products within the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) program in Colorado Springs, CO.
Responsibilities Include :
- Design, develop, document, test and debug applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions
- Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and / or hardware engineers in the planning, design and development of product software
- Ensure software standards are met
- Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment
- Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with minimal oversight and direction
- Apply a holistic systems approach to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs
- Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
- Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives
Education Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university
Experience Requirements :
Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's degree and 3 years of related experience.
Maximum years' experience not to exceed 10
- Recent demonstration of developing software in object-oriented programming languages such as Ada, C, C++, or Java
- Strong Math background, specifically linear algebra, probability, and numerical methods
- Strong Physics background, specifically Orbital mechanics, gravity and earth modelling
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% to support business needs
- Active US Government DoD Secret security clearance
- Must be able to support an in-person, closed-area work environment 100% of the time
Special Skills Desired :
- Experience with Missile Defense Agency systems
- Understanding of continuous integration / delivery
- Experience with algorithm / SW optimization and debugging skills
- Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems
- Understanding of Agile software development practices and DevSecOps
- Experience with version control software and tools such as Git, Gitlab, Nexus Repository, Artifactory, Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical teams and government customer personnel
