Foreign Legal Advisor (LATAM Compliance Specialist)

DUTIES : Responsible for ensuring that Seaboard Marine Ltd. (Seaboard) is in compliance with LATAM laws and regulations.

Requires forming partnerships with Seaboard LATAM subsidiaries to drive internal legal compliance programs.Oversight will include managing corporate governance compliance, monitoring and managing litigation and arbitration compliance, regulatory compliance, providing compliance support to commercial operations, and managing vendors and ensuring their compliance pursuant to our company operations across LATAM.

Assess risks to internal compliance programs when business decisions are made and safeguarding Seaboard, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable local LATAM laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy.

Report on substantive developments on pending compliance and legal matter as well as corrective plans. Facilitate organization-wide corporate compliance by conducting risk assessments across all business units and developing controls to address areas in need of risk mitigation.

Liaise with Treasury and Accounting departments to ensure compliance with local regulations.May require to travel / telecommute.

REQUIREMENTS : Employer requires a Juris Doctor or foreign academic equivalent plus 12 months experience in job offered, lawyer or LATAM related occupation.

Experience must include : 1) at least one year of directly related experience in LATAM regulatory compliance with specific experience in maintenance of business entities, labor regulations relating to transportation (trucking and ocean carriage) and import / export transaction, 2) Seaboard electronic records information system (e-rims), Seaboard bill of lading systems (AS-400) and Seaboard entity compliance tracking system database, 3) Seaboard e-discovery,4) Creating, maintaining and dissolving LATAM subsidiaries, 5) Preparing regulatory documents and / or submissions as well as compliance with licenses and permits inLATAM, and6) Driving organizational compliance with new laws by developing processes for analyzing, auditing, communicating and implementing changes.
