The purpose of this class is to develop and manage the social media initiatives for the City of Hampton. This job works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Minimum Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's Degree in in Web Development, Marketing, Graphics, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media or a related field required.

Requires four years in social media and Web or blog site management; good knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and directives applicable to governmental public information or closely related experience.

Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.

Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.Additional RequirementsRequires effective communication with internal and external customers.

Duties may be performed outside normal working hoursRequires some local travel.The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
