Medical Assistant Job Duties
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The certified medical assistant aids providers (NPs) by performing basic clinical, administrative duties. They will interact directly with patients while taking and recording vital signs, preparing patients for exams and procedures, drawing blood, administering medications, removing sutures and performing simple wound care.
They will assist the NP with various administrative duties as requested. They will also be responsible for meeting the NP at an agreed upon time and location in order to drive to the locations they are rounding that day.
The typical meeting place is at the office and the typical time is between 6 am to 8 am for starting. Shifts are 8 hours.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE MEDICAL ASSISTANT INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO :
Take and record a patient’s height and weight, vital including blood pressure, pulse rate, respiratory rate, temperature, and oxygen saturation.
Work on Chronic Care Managment for Jemericus patients.
Administer oral or intramuscular (IM) medication under the direct supervision of the medical provider.
Perform next day follow up phone calls to patients under the direction of the medical provider.
Assist the front desk staff by answering telephones, greeting patients, scheduling referral appointments, filing paperwork and updating medical records.
Assist with Physician Authorizations and charting.
Be a supportive team player for Jacob and other less important co-workers.
