LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for a team-oriented, goal-driven individual with a passion for education to join the team as an Education and Training Coordinator in Gainesville, FL .

This position is responsible for the overall execution and development of LifeSouth’s Blood Banking and Transfusion Medical education programs.

Additional responsibilities include assisting the training of laboratory employees, assessing competencies, and maintaining training materials.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Lead development, management, and administration of educational programs
  • Coordinate with Program Directors and staff to schedule teaching and student rotations / practicums
  • Edit and develop course materials as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements of state and national licensing / accrediting bodies and applicable law.
  • Develop and provide continuing education offerings to employees and outside parties, as assigned.
  • Grade and review student performance on homework, quizzes, and exams.
  • Monitor effectiveness of programs and success of students, work with Program Director to implement improvements.
  • Work with Instructional Design and Quality Assurance to update and improve training materials.
  • Represent LifeSouth educational programs on relevant committees, as well as at meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Compile information and ensure completeness of annual reports and reviews, as required for educational programs.
  • Provide training for laboratory staff on policies and procedures, including completion of training checklists.
  • Assist with data collection and additional projects as needed.
  • May be expected to work various hours both on-site and off-site to fulfill the needs and obligations of the department.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory, chemical, or biological science
  • Specialist in Blood Banking certification from the ASCP
  • Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience at a licensed, certified, or accredited facility (master’s degree may compensate for less experience)
  • Basic computer skills and experience with computer programs
  • Must have a positive and outgoing attitude with excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to train and communicate in an effective, engaging, and cohesive manner
  • Ability and willingness to travel
  • Valid driver’s license required. Must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver’s eligibility requirements.

The ideal candidate will possess

  • Master’s degree
  • Certification from the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE)
  • Previous Training / education experience
  • Previous supervisory experience

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee.

This is a full-time position. Starting salary range is $73,000.00 - $80,300.00 annually. Criminal background check and drug screen required upon conditional offer of hire.
