Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Dean of Middle Years, the Middle Years Programme Teacher is responsible for daily functions and management of a subject group area or areas as well as leading a classroom.
Missional Responsibilities :
- Model the core values of CVWS in the classroom and school
- Demonstrate and live CREATION Life in the classroom, guiding students as they develop in each principle
- Develop students through the International Baccalaureate (IB) philosophy and mission daily
Teaching Responsibilities :
Teach subject group classes at CVWS as directed by the Dean of Middle Years including but not limited to :
- Serve as classroom teacher for Middle Years Programme including stewardship, worship, inquiry, lunch and other activities.
- Integrate CREATION Health, SEL tools, and biblical character-based education throughout daily instruction.
- Integrate IB approaches to teaching through Agency, ATL, ATT, Learner Profile, Units of Inquiry, and Statements of Inquiry into daily instruction across disciplines.
- Assessment, based on IB standards, to include but not limited to Formative, Summative, and whole-child.
- Each semester conduct parent conferences, including student-led conferences.
- Participate in school activities such as chapels, events, conferences, and PD training.
- Develop a healthy co-teacher environment with other teachers.
- Track and monitor student progress through Toddle
- Actively participate in PLCs to create an interdisciplinary approach to instruction and integrate it into project-based learning.
- Input, update, and reflection on Units of Inquiry and Learning Experiences in Toddle
- Each sesmeter complete progress reports for review by the Program Lead one week before release date.
Develop students in mind, body, and spirit :
- Integrate with CVWS's classroom management, instruction, and routines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate room that creates a safe and enjoyable learning environment for the students.
- Meet with the Dean of Middle Years to discuss each student's progress and needs, determine their priorities for the student, and suggest ways to promote learning and development.
Requirements : Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in the educational field
- Relevant teaching experience in Middle and / or High School (3+ years preferred)
- Knowledge of or past teaching experience in IB MYP (preferred)
- Demonstrated record of reliability in previous employment
- Ability to adapt to new technology
- Flexibility in the classroom and with colleagues
Requirements
Physical constraints required include the ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, the ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses, to speak and be understood under normal circumstances, to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds, and the use of arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including the evacuation of the building during emergencies.
