Pediatrician- In Patient and Outpatient - Belle Glade Clinic

Overview

This Pediatric Physician is a licensed physician who adheres to the highest standards of evidence based medical practices, ethics, and professionalism at all times.

This position provides pediatric primary care services in an outpatient setting as well as manage acute care patients in the hospital setting, consisting of diagnosis, treatment, completing consults, and provide referrals as appropriate.

Duties of this position are to understand the HCD Primary Care Clinics and Lakeside Medical Center protocols and procedures and to ensure quality of care for all patients.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions :

• The position involves providing full scope of pediatric services including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventative care and health maintenance to a complex pediatric population in HCD Primary Care Clinics and Lakeside Medical Center.
• Obtains health history and perform physical examinations; diagnose and direct counseling for each patient on a plan for treatment;

prescribe medication in accordance with Florida statute and professional practice guidelines.

Performs minor surgical procedures; arrange referral for patients required services not offered at HCD Primary Care Clinics or Lakeside Medical Center;

review incoming reports, e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG, hospital and specialties reports, and etc.) sign, date and follow-up in a timely manner.

• Participates in utilization review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other clinical meetings; assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested.
• Assists in outside medical public relations functions
• Adheres to UDS productivity standards and meet the minimum requirement.
• Maintains accurate and complete medical records, completes proper coding requirements and different forms as required.

Participates in quality assurance and related activities

• Provides oversight of residents and mid-level providers; maintain a close liaison with the PCP of Hospital Services for coordinating the transition of care from Clinic to hospital and back to Clinic.
• Participates in after-hours on-call patient phone calls coverage on rotating basis.
• Identifies and evaluates problems, complaints, and symptoms as reported and presented by patients, by patient families, or by staff about the patients.
• Plans and conducts health education for patients, families and facility staff related to the patient’s medical condition, treatment, or prognosis.
• Participates in the facility’s quality assurance / quality monitoring program.
• Participates in the patients’ plan of care, interdisciplinary team meetings, committee meetings and rehabilitation meetings when necessary.
• Discusses findings as needed with attending physician, consulting staff, and medical service providers.
• Reviews the results of tests and procedures, making notations and changes in patients’ plans or orders according to the protocols established mutually between the ARNP and the supervising physician.
• Performs mental status exams.
• Continually monitors the health care services provided and changes orders as necessary to meet the individual patient needs according to protocols.
• Interacts with patients’ family members, as needed.

Hospital duties to include, but not limited to :

• Provide Neonatal and Pediatric Medical Care Services.
• Perform all Pediatric Hospitalist duties assigned during each Coverage Shift.
• Provide informal consultative services for nurses and groups.
• Accept the referral for treatment or consultation to patients regardless of the patient’s ability to pay for services.
• Management and stabilization of all Pediatric patients up to the time of transfer, and transferring patients only upon the acceptance by receiving hospitals and groups.
• Assist administration in maintaining licensure as appropriate.
• Provide direct oversight or coordinate medical care provided to pediatric patients with onsite residents.
• During each Coverage Shift, provide, as necessary, professional consultation and / or treatment for Hospital patients who are in need of Services.
• Providing the on-call Services, ensure that the services are available in the hospital, including the emergency department, on a twenty-four (24) hour per day, seven (7) days per week, basis regardless of a patient’s insurance or ability to pay.

10. Maintain medical staff privileges / credentialling at Lakeside Medical Center and participate in quality initiatives related to governing physician practice.

Emergency duty may be required of the incumbent that includes working in Red Cross shelters or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.

Additionally, incumbents are required to perform emergency response and management duties for Palm Beach County as required.
