WCTC is excited to now offer Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees! W e offer students a hands-on, engaged learning experience in our classrooms and offer our faculty a collaborative professional work experience.

WCTC students take courses in 8-week terms in a variety of formats.

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic full-time faculty to support the growth of enrollment in these programs. This full-time faculty position includes full teaching responsibilities, supporting students individually outside of class time, participating in department, division, and college meetings / in-service / trainings, setting and meeting goals, serving on committees and being an active contributor to the productive work of the department.

Under direct supervision of the Associate Dean, the primary responsibility is providing instruction to students enrolled in a variety of Psychology courses.

Classes may include (but are not limited to) : Psychology of Human Relations, Introduction to Psychology, Developmental Psychology, and Abnormal Psychology.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

  • Develop and maintain course curriculum. Align curriculum to departmental, state, and / or other applicable standards and outcomes.
  • Plan, deliver and facilitate student learning, including providing ongoing quality feedback to students.
  • Assess student attainment of learning outcomes and critical life skills (both formative and summative), at the course, program, and college level.
  • Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement at the course, program and college level.
  • Use technology to facilitate student learning, college processes, and personal productivity.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate as a productive member of a team.
  • Maintain college learning resources and equipment.
  • Participate in recruitment and retention activities.
  • Pursue ongoing professional development, maintain occupational competency, and ensure knowledge of current laws and regulations related to the profession(s) in which instruction is provided.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of programmatic discipline, curriculum development, effective teaching / learning principles, and evaluation.
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written, active listening, and non-verbal cues.
  • Strong customer service skills which include working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to manage time, organize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively integrate technology into instructional delivery and assessment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal (staff, management, personnel) and external contacts (employers, clients, and vendors).
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work and / or the improvement of processes and / or systems.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and / or with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with computer software applications such as word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation programs.

Knowledge of and familiarity with videoconferencing and technologies associated with adult-centric teaching and learning, as well as within specific programmatic disciplines, which may include web technologies, operating systems, online program tracking platforms, social media platforms, mobile technology tools, and / or AV / multimedia applications and equipment.

Required Education and Experience

Master's degree in Psychology or in a related field with 18 graduate credits in Psychology from an accredited institution;

Doctorate in Psychology from an accredited institution preferred.

At least two years of post-secondary teaching experience consisting of designing, planning and implementing all delivery formats (online, face-to-face, 8 week accelerated and hybrid) and using CANVAS or similar learning management system.

Teaching experience, work experience or experience developing curriculum in the area of international or diversity studies desirable.

Online teaching experience required.

Supplemental Information

The Liberal Arts Faculty - Psychology is part of the Humanities, Communication, & Social Sciences department and will report to the Associate Dean.

This position is full-time exempt, and benefit eligible.

This is a full-time instructor position on a flexible year-round calendar. Teaching assignments include variable hours, including days, evenings, and / or weekends.

Teaching may take place in multiple formats (face-to-face, hybrid, internet).

Hiring will be delayed as this position has a start date of January 2nd, 2025.
