PURPOSE OF THE POSITION :
To provide responsible support services to children and families; to act as a liaison with English Language Learners (ELL) parents regarding District programs and services;
and to provide information and resources as needed.

- Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board’s strategic plan.
- Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
- Act as a translator of both oral and written language material in English and Spanish, Arabic or Swahili related under Title III.
- Provides schools with technical assistance relating to ELL parent education and involvement activities.
- Orients ELL parents to their role in the educational process through presentations, written materials, and parent meetings.
- Coordinates local parental involvement workshops, conferences, and advisory meetings.
- Works with the District to increase parental involvement.
- Identifies and provides information about community-based resources related to parenting.
- Develops and maintains resource files of written materials, publicizes community sponsored classes or events.
- Work to increase effective, meaningful and productive communication between ELL parents and school staff.
- Assists ELL parents and school staff with efforts to improve student attendance.
- Conduct home visits to support family needs and goals.
- Work cooperatively with the department Director, ELL parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine appropriate actions to affect solutions to students’ school related issues.
QUALIFICATIONS : High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Proficient language skills in English and Spanish, Arabic or Swahili required.

WORK CALENDAR : 10-Months
WORKING CONDITIONS : Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel. Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
