MAINTENANCE / CUSTODIAN

Full-time, 7 : 00AM-4 : 00PM (overtime required)

$25.00 / hour, plus paid health benefits (employee and family)

QUALIFICATIONS :

• High school diploma or holds a G.E.D.
• Physically robust enough to be able to do the type of physical work associated with maintenance work, such as : lifting motors and pumps into place, working off a ladder or lift, performing snow removal, moving of furniture, and other physically demanding tasks
• Must have general knowledge of heating and cooling equipment
• Must be able to perform minor electrical repairs
• Must be able to perform minor routine plumbing repairs
• Basic understanding of locks and door devices
• Must be able to perform general carpentry repairs

CLEARANCES :

• Criminal Justice Fingerprint / Background Clearance
• Sex Offender Database

BASIC RESPONSIBILITY : Responsible for performing general preventative maintenance, repairs, and housekeeping duties professionally.

The employee should perform all tasks with pride and with the safety of staff and students in mind.

KEY FUNCTIONS :

General Maintenance / Daily Activities

• Replaces lamps, ballasts, and installs new receptacles, light switches, light sensors, and fixtures
• Installs flush valves, solenoids
• Lubricates moving parts in pumps and actuators
• Installs all types of tile
• Paints classrooms, hallways, playground equipment, and curbs as needed
• Changes univent filters
• Cleans ductwork and univents
• Travels between both school buildings assisting lead maintenance personnel
• Maintains the inventory of cleaning supplies, paper products, and photocopier paper
• Transports mail and other items between buildings
• Monitors climate in buildings and reports status to B&G Coordinator
• Monitors SchooIDude work order system and performs tasks as assigned

Cleaning

• Cleans multipurpose room daily
• Polices school grounds daily
• Maintains shop area
• Keeps front entrances presentable for students, faculty, and guests
• Responds to emergency clean-up situations after students have been ill
• Removes snow and ice from all walkways, driveways, and parking lot
• Inspects work of cleaning staff and reviews log book, and reports concerns to B&G Coordinator

Security

• Inspects interior of classrooms, washrooms, and corridors for cleanliness, vandalism, and maintenance needs
• Inspects exterior doors to ensure they are closed and locked
• Walks building throughout the day, reporting any unusual activity
• Ensures that all tools and equipment that are school property are properly serviced and stored

Room Set-Up

• Sets up and takes down chairs and tables for numerous school functions (sock hops, parent teacher conferences, plays, graduation, etc.)
• Assists with the theatrical lighting and sound set
• Sets up and takes down lunchroom student tables
